My Vision
I believe that strong public schools are the heart of a thriving community. My vision is to ensure ISD 196 remains a school district where every student feels supported, challenged, and celebrated. I’m committed to nurturing not only academic excellence, but the health and wellness of our students and staff—because when minds and bodies are healthy, learning flourishes.

I will foster genuine collaboration between families, educators, and the community, working side by side to ensure our schools reflect the values and aspirations of our friends and neighbors.
Grounded in data-driven decision making, I will advocate for policies and practices informed by evidence, transparency, and measurable outcomes. This commitment ensures that we respond effectively to the needs of our students.
Together, we can create learning environments that empower our students to succeed and inspire us all. Let’s build a future that honors the promise of public education—where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

About Catherine Diamond
Catherine Diamond is the mother of three elementary school students and a dedicated public servant with a passion for improving education in ISD 196. She currently serves on the ISD 196 School Board.

Catherine has dedicated her career to promoting the link between public health and education, earning her doctorate in public health with research and publication on the impact of community schools on the health and wellness of surrounding communities. She now leads the Division of Injury Prevention and Mental Health at the Minnesota Department of Health. She uses data and community input to create safe and healthy environments for all Minnesotans to live, learn, work, and grow. She focuses on primary prevention - looking to address the root cause of health challenges rather than waiting to address a developed issue.

She brings her expertise in data collection and analysis, systems change, and active listening to ISD 196, along with a commitment to collaborate with those impacted by the decisions being made - students, families, educators, and community members.
